Greetings and happy Saturday! I'm so glad to be back to the blogosphere after an unintended 2 day hiatus. Unfortunately blogging has taken a backseat to other, more pressing things this week, but hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of things over the next couple of days.
Ever since I was a little girl, I've LOVED watching the Oscars! It's by far my most favorite awards show and the fashionista in me can't wait to see the various "looks" of all the stars.
This year's telecast should definitely be an interesting one. Although I'm not crazy about the idea of having dual hosts, (Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin), and not loving the idea of TEN Best Picture nominees, (I mean, isn't the point of a nomination the exclusivity?)....I have to say, I'm still kinda psyched for show.
Throwing an Oscar bash of your own? Looking for some inspiration for your soiree? Check out these Grade-A sites for some party themes even the Academy would approve of:
From movie marquee sugar cookies to popcorn bucket-shaped brownies, the diva of baked goods shows us how it's done! I mean, just take a look at the Julie and Julia-inspiried cupcakes below. So cute!
How about an edible golden statuette? Bakerella has you covered.

No party-throwing idea list would be complete without HWTM. I'm positively obsessing over the movie photo candle cylinders (see below).
And don't even get me started on the roses and pearls in the Manzanita theme...pure perfection, darlings.
From centerpiece materials, to silverware to party favors, SC is a one-stop-shop for all essential party items. Every item in the Hollywood Glam theme is pretty fabulous. Although it's probably a little late to order things for Sunday's award show, you could totally rock this same theme for a fun birthday or bachelorette party.
I'm really not rooting for any one actor or movie Sunday, (I honestly haven't even seen most of the nominated films), but I have to say, it would be so great to see Sandra Bullock win for Best Actress. And there's no doubt she will be looking gorgeous!
Do you plan to watch tomorrow's Oscar telecast? Who are YOU rootin' for?
Have a swell Saturday, (yes, I realize no one has used the word "swell" since 1984, haha.)
Be blessed, lovelies!
XOXO,
Leslie
Oooh im soo excited for the oscars :D
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Leslie! Happy weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so watching the Oscars! I haven't really seen a lot of the nominated movies...but it's always a great show. Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin should be funny...but Hugh Jackman last year was an amazing host! Tough act to follow Alec!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for the Oscars too! Whohoo. I love the cylinder idea on the candles - did you just take photos of actresses and somehow position it on the glass? Please tell how, I love it! :) Enjoy your weekend Leslie!
ReplyDeleteThose statue cookies are just adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh, fun.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I feel called into the ministry and want to work full time, part of me wishes I could just stay home and plan parties all the time!! How much fun would that be?
I love the oscars and even award show for that matter. I can remember sitting in my living room with my mom after she made special snacks for me and my friends so we could stay up late and watch the awards. At that age we didn't even know what the awards meant we just loved to see the dresses. Wait a minute- isn't that how i still am? HA! I have you a little something over at my place so come by and get it when you have a chance!XOXO
ReplyDeletehope you enjoyed the Oscars Leslie. i did for a bit and i am surprised Avatar did not win best picture, oh well, i still love the movie.
ReplyDeletethese are some great ideas, love the oscar cookies especially the ones with movie photo.
