Happy Tuesday, Blonde Ambitioners! Are you in a good mood this morning? I am. Know why? I had THE BEST girls' night out last night. Ok, technically it was the best Monday night girls' night out, but still...
Well, this music nerd is about to pop in her ear buds and get to work.
It was kind of random and very poorly planned, which to me, made it all the more fun. We headed out around 8:30 (seems so late for a Monday night when you reach the post-college years) and hit up our favorite Dickson Street martini spot, Theo's. Afterwards, we caught a show at a local Fayetteville venue with a band we knew very little about. The name? Dr. Dog. The show? Surprisingly good. Kind of like Ben Folds meets Wilco, if you can imagine that.
The crowd was a super random mix of people; hippies, preps, a sprinkling of punks, you name it- it was there.
Anyway, long story short, our spur-of-the-moment girls' night out was a shining success.
As many of you know, I'm a self-proclaimed music nerd. You'd never believe the random mix of tunes on my iPod or my shear love of concerts and shows and music festivals. And something about warmer weather makes me want to hop in the car and take a lengthy road trip with a great playlist...
I've gotten several emails from you guys over the course of this blog's life about my music preferences, recommendations and so forth. I'm no expert and definitely not a critic, but here are a few songs that have resided on my "Road Trip" playlist for some time:
I've gotten several emails from you guys over the course of this blog's life about my music preferences, recommendations and so forth. I'm no expert and definitely not a critic, but here are a few songs that have resided on my "Road Trip" playlist for some time:
1) Napoleon Says - Phoenix
2) Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco
3) God is a Dancer - Ben Del Shreve (a local artist, look him up on iTunes)
4) Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys
5) Can't You See - The Marshall Tucker Band (so old, but so good)
6) Laredo - Band of Horses
7) Old Enough - The Raconteurs
8) Far From Home - The Gabe Dixon Band
9) Gold, Guns, Girls - Metric
10) Fader - The Temper Trap
Just making this list makes me want to hop in the Nissan right now and head on down the interstate. And at some point this summer, I fully intend to do just that.
So I'm interested to know, what songs are on your "Road Trip" playlist?
Well, this music nerd is about to pop in her ear buds and get to work.
Be blessed, lovelies-
