All Rowled Up

Ok, although I dig wearing wedges and rompers, I must testify: I, Leslie, am a decidedly "cool weather" girl.

Being a Southerner and all, I feel it's my duty to love hot, sticky weather. I mean, my dad even owns an air conditioning business. But Lord help me, I’m just not a fan of the sweltering heat and 1,000% humidity.

You see, to me, nothing beats autumn with its crunchy gold and red leaves, college football (Go Hogs!), pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, the return of Dexter and, (most importantly), Fall clothing. I'll take a toggle coat and tights over a bikini any day of the week.

Lately, to satisfy my craving for cooler weather, I’ve been ogling the Fall 2010 collections of various très fantastique designers. In the coming weeks, we'll be looking at several of my personal faves to pumped for the approaching months.

Take heed, fair friends; It’s going to be one heck of season to get dressed:

I saw several pics from NY Fashion Week of Cynthia Rowley’s Fall 2010 Collection in February and I was floored. Dubbed the “chic monster-girl collection” by Rowley herself, there’s no wonder this was one of the most anticipated and talked-about of the Fall shows.

Rowley’s use of volume and texture, (delivered in the form of oversize puffer coats, bubble hemlines, ruching, feathers and fringe), was simply sublime. Shades of royal blue, gray and black were interspersed with pops of candy red and creamy yellow, which made for a deliciously modern color palette.

And can we discuss the hair and make-up for a moment? Presh.

Rowley’s models sported heavy, straightened eyelashes (to compliment the fringe-adorned pieces on the catwalk) and brightly colored crimped ponytails, which replicated the rich, artificial jewel tones of the collection, such as emerald green, amethyst and bright turquoise.

I'm in couture lurve. Want to see more of the Cynthia Rowley Fall 2010 Collection? Of course you do. Click here to check it out.

Be blessed, lovelies-

  1. I loooove the colored crimped ponytails! If only it were a street style so that I could pull out my old school crimper I got for Christmas in the Fifth Grade...

  10. People always give me such grief here in Chicago when I complain of the heat (yes, it actually DOES get hot here some days!). I can't tell you how many times I've heard "you're from Texas, you should be used to this!"
and my response is always "everything is air conditioned in Texas, and we walk nowhere."

However I do have to say that these Chicago summers are mostly WONDERFUL. Triple digits are unheard of!!

  14. So when you said this ...

You see, to me, nothing beats autumn with its crunchy gold and red leaves, college football (Go Hogs!), pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, the return of Dexter and, (most importantly), Fall clothing. I'll take a toggle coat and tights over a bikini any day of the week.

... I drooled a little. I love fall. It needs to come. Now.
