I'm southern. It's how we roll.
To me, there is no such thing as natural beauty, unless you're talking about nature or my fiance's derriere in his jeans.
That was uncalled for. Sorry y'all.
Anywhoodle, so yeah, I have a finely tuned routine for creating a smooth, flawless base. That's the key to any successful make-up look - creating a perfect-ish canvas. Doing so in the summer however is a bit tricky since make-up tends to run in heat and humidity. It can be a hot mess in the most literal sense.
The products below hold up to our sticky Arkansas summers quite well, though:
I always start by applying primer. 1) I love Too Faced Primed and Poreless primer for a pre-foundation treatment. 2) Next, I apply Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation with an SPF all over my face and around my jawline with a wedge sponge. I've tried the foundation brushes, but I still prefer the wedges because of their awesome blending ability.
3) Then comes concealor. I only use a little dot of Smashbox High Definition Concealer right under my eye to brighten the eye area. 4) Next, I seal everything with a dusting of Make-Up Forever's HD Microfinish Powder, concentrating most of the powder on my T-Zone, (forehead, nose and chin.)
5) I then apply a dusting of bronzer onto my forehead and cheek bones and a little dab onto the bridge of my nose. I lurve Too Faced Carribean in a Compact in Sun Bunny.6) Finally, a swipe of blush, (I prefer NARS in Orgasm) to the apple of my cheeks.
7) If I'm going out at night, I love to highlight the very tip tops of my cheekbones with Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter Stick by Benefit Cosmetics. It brings a little shimmer to ya' face!
There you have it. My make-up routine.
I would have done a video tutorial but it will be a cold day in you-know-where before this southern girl shows her bare face to the blog world.
This is the finished product. Me, not Stephen. He's naturally purty and needs no help from cosmetics to create his flawless summer face ; )
P.S.- I was going to post the link to my bridal shower dress from yesterday's post, but unfortunately I couldn't find it on Dillard's website : ( Check in stores though! I got it in the Junior's section (yes, I'm redonk and still shop Juniors.)
Be blessed, lovelies-
you look beautiful, thanks for the tips. I am a Bobbi Brown addict and her products seem to work well with my skin and coloring :)

Great tips! I'm not much of a make up girl although I try to be because it just gives you that extra polish. I would like to know how you do your eyes. I just barely started experimenting with eye liner last year and I either feel like I'm putting on too much or too little so that you cant' see it. I think I'm just scared of it!!! I love the way your eyes pop. Tips please!!
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Too Faced as well- love their Amazing Face powder foundation as well as their Primed & Poreless powder.
ReplyDeleteDid you know ELF has an HD powder that is pretty much identical to the MUFE, and is only $6? I will never buy the MUFE again!
Would love to hear what eye/lip products you use as well- I am such a product junkie!

Great products! I love using tinted moisturizers during the summer & mine has 45 spf! It is a must with being in the Florida sun so my nose doesn't burn.
ReplyDeleteI love estee lauder's double wear too! it's so good. At the moment I am also using Maybelline 24hour stay which is great as it's not too heavy. I definitely recommend using a brush and then a sponge to blend in the jawline. Highlighter on the brow and cheekbones is a must too. looking gorgeous girly! XX
