Bonjour, mademoiselles! It would appear that today is Thursday and you know what Thursday means around these parts...time for a random post!
1. So last night was just plain wretched. We went to the country club where our wedding reception is being held to finalize some last-minute details with the food. All went well and we walked out in high spirits when...
My car wouldn't start.
Dead. Gone. Done-zo.
We tried and we tried and we tried to start the darn thing and with no luck; she was a goner.
Finally, we determined it might be the battery. We asked around and it would appear that country club patrons do not carry jumper cables in their vehicles. It's times like last night when I long for my small hometown with good country folk that are always packing jumper cables, multiple spare tires and a wench (not a hoochie, but a thing you use to pull trucks and cars out of the mud.)
We ended up taking a cab back to our house, 20 minutes away to pick up Stephen's truck and a set of jumper cables. After a brief stop at Subway where Stephen ate and I sat and cried, we drove back to the club and jump-started the car.
There really is nothing sadder than a soon-to-be bride bawling her eyes out into a tuna fish sandwich.
2. I managed to snap a pic of my Hogs shirt in the bathroom at the club before we left. You'll notice I'm smiling, so obviously this was BEFORE the battery debaucle. I've made a mini-pledge to wear a Razorback shirt every day this week prior to Saturday's opening season game.
3. I posted this pic on Twitter yesterday, but figured I'd share it with the non-twitterfied world also. Consider it this week's wedding sneak peek...it's me, it's me!
4. Does anyone know when the Pumpkin Spice Latte is making her comeback? I sped into the drive-thru this morning just SURE it was September 1 and was highly disappointed when I had to order my usual vanilla latte.
5. Someone yesterday made a lovely and much-appreciated comment yesterday about the fact that we're serving our reception food buffet style and how it was a little "low class".
6. I wanted to punch her in the face.
7. As to not end on a sour note, let's all rejoice that Monday is the Day of Labor and we can all sleep in. Hoorah and heck yes!
Be blessed, lovelies-
Ok, now I need to have your back - seriously about the comment? How rude!!! I can knock her out with my big baby belly if I need to! Reed's pretty tough! Sorry you had such a rough day! Hang in there! Praying for a better day! love ya!
ReplyDeletehahaha "low class"?! Umm... I think NOT woman who made that comment. I've been to plenty of very classy weddings (including my sister's) with buffets that I would consider anything but low-class. Stay strong girl :)
ReplyDeleteLOVED seeing that sneak peek on twitter yesterday.. you are going to look so beautiful on the big day!
ReplyDeleteAnd that comment? Rude! And wrong.. every wedding I have been to in the last few years has done a buffet style dinner and they certainly haven't been "low-class."
Praying for a better day today!
And that Hogs shirt... super cute!
Love the sneak peak! Your bracelet and little snipet of your dress are beautiful! LOW CLASS??? She is just jealous! Plus Buffet is better- more choices! ha!!
ReplyDeleteIf you are low class then so am I honey! We had a buffet that was a HUGE hit with our guests. Sometimes your venue just doesn't make that an option (contracts with caterers, etc) so to think that it some how defines you as a person is pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteI love your shirt and I'm a Gator fan! Yay for college football!
I love your random Thursday posts :)
Obviously, the "low class" gal is not a "southern lady". Because we all know that being southern is not just about location, but who you are and how you were raised. That being said ... "Bless her heart". :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so mad for you! The last wedding I went to that served the food to each person was a disaster. Our food was COLD when we got it! That person needs to get a life.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see that sneak peek! Looks gorgeous!
Someone else blogged today that the Pumpkin Spice Latte was making a comeback on Tuesday! Not sure of the accuracy, but that's what I heard! I was pretty bummed to order plain coffee this morning too...
ReplyDeleteJealous people. Ignore! I have been dying to have a pumpkin spice latte. I read an article the other day that said if you ask for it, they can make it. But it didn't work for me. :(
ReplyDeleteI have heard the pumpkin spice latte is supposed to come back on Tuesday but I can't say this is 100% true. :)
ReplyDeleteFirstly: that picture is gorgey! Love the detail and the bracelet is presh and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSecondly: My car batter died 3 weeks ago on a day I COULDN"T miss work. My boyfriend tried to jump it...no dice so I had to call a tow truck (first calling my daddy cause they always make it better). I was blocking my neighbor in and was super embarrassed. The tow truck was able to jump it, but my battery was DEADZO too!
Thirdly: The fact said person felt the need to tell a bride anything about her wedding is 'lowclass' shows how lowclass she is. She sounds like a miserable person, such a shame!
Fourthly: Your wedding is almost here...HUZZAH!
Best wishes beautiful bride!
xoxo
Low Class? Please. That's ridic. We had a very, very extravagant wedding and had buffet sytle with fun finger foods and EVERYONE loved it!
ReplyDeletePumpkin Spice Latte one pump cannot come soon enough!
Punch her girl. No, not really. But maybe.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for the Pumpkin Spice Latte, it's still 100 degrees here so I don't think I will be consuming one until the temps drop a bit.
Well, if you are low class, so am I!!! We had a buffet at our reception and it was wonderful!! By the way we are wedding day twins, we married back on September 17, 2005. :) Don't let stupid people get you down. Some people were put on this earth only to make others miserable...but only if we let them!
ReplyDeleteWHATTTTTTTT! We did buffet and it was delicious and fabulous and phenomenal and peopled raved. I think it's low class that someone would say something like that. This is your most special day and people are judging?!?! Who are they?!? Humph!
ReplyDeleteapparently she is LOW class...we served our food at "stations" and to be honest, people said they much preferred it than a stuffy sit-down dinner ;)
ReplyDeletedo what YOU want!!
Pumpkin Spice will be available September 16 (I am a Pumpkin spice latte girl myself :). My starbucks has them already and they will make them for you if you ask nicely. I did and I got mine! :)
ReplyDeletewe did buffet style- i think everyone LIKED it that way!!
ReplyDeleteI want to punch that B in the face too! We are serving our reception food buffet style as well that way people can TAKE HOW MUCH THEY WANT. I'm tired of going to wedding where you get a tiny piece of meat a half scoop of potatoes and 4 green beans. People gotta eat folks!!!
ReplyDeleteUm sorry about that. I'm too excited I missed the date by 10 days!!! Its actually Sept 6 for the pumpkin spice! Even closer :)
ReplyDeleteHope your car is OK. If it's just the battery it just refills and you are good to go. Mine died the day we came back from vacation! As for buffet-they are awesome and are often more expensive then plated depending on the venue.
ReplyDeleteOkay, first of all, what a rude comment! We did buffet style too and I don't see any issue with it AT ALL! Second, you look lovely and thin in your shirt. Third, I really like the nail polish in the bride picture. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteShe probably deserved a nice little punch but props to you for not giving it to her! Our wedding was buffet style and it worked for us! It's all about the feel you're going for :)Looove the sneak peek picture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bia...someone who acts like that is "low class" herself. We had a buffet style wedding and frankly I wouldn't have had it any other way. Someone needs to learn if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Sorry about your car! Life always hits at the worst times! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteto the little bitter hussy who made that hateful comment...i hope you get food poisoning from your next sit down dinner.
ReplyDeleteyour arm looks gorgggggeous in that pic! ha.. cant wait to see the rest!
BAHAHAHA! I'm sorry your car wouldn't start, and you cried. I'm also going to say that who is this commenter to judge you and your classyness?! I would say you are quite classy and will have a beautiful wedding just from reading your blog and seeing your pictures. Hope today is better!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Isn't it such a bummer when just one little comment kind of breaks your stride?
ReplyDeleteNot sure why people have to always voice there not-always-welcomed-or-asked-for opinions, but good for you for voicing that you were bummed!
know what? The last wedding Adam and I went to that was plated, our food was cold and blah - plus we had to wait FOREVER to get it.
After already attending 7 weddings this year, we have both decided that buffets are the way to go. Not really sure what is so "un-classy" about great food, served hot, in a quick and organized way?!
PS- Keep me posted on the pumpkin spice update, girl!
PPS- You are looking freaking teeny tiny! Look at you little bride! LOVING the sneak peek!
ReplyDeleteDuring the Pumpkin Spice Latte challenge they announced it was September 6. But if your town won the challenge you got it this week instead! Love your Arkansas shirt. Is that a Victoria's Secret PINK beauty or just a home grown tee? It rocks!
ReplyDeleteSO cannot wait to see your whole dress!!!!!! And yay for football!!!!!! :)And seriously, how rude was that comment!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAh my car wouldn't start last week, seriously worst thing ever!! And your Hogs shirt is super cute, I'm soo glad football season is starting up again :) PS, not sure I told you yet but I love your blog!! I'm a fellow blondie myself and can relate to everything you post, congrats on your upcoming wedding!! xoxo
ReplyDeletei LOVE that picture!!!
ReplyDeleteand in the words of stephanie tanner, how rude? ugh. sometimes comments can be so mean-but just think about all the other lovely commenters who you've never heard anything mean out of :)
You know what IS indeed low-class? 1) Making rude comments and 2) Having to live in a tent because your wedding budget was blown. Buffet all the way!!
ReplyDeletethat picture looks GORGEOUS. cant wait to see! how rude of whoever said that comment! we had a buffet style at my wedding and it was very classy, and we got so many compliments on how good the food was. it will be great.
ReplyDeleteI can already tell I love your dress! :)
ReplyDeletePretty much all weddings around here are served buffet style...who cares! They're getting food aren't they?!
ummm low class??? she's low class for saying that. I've never been to a wedding that wasn't buffet style. How rude!! You're wedding will be beautiful and pefect. Don't let people like this get you down.
ReplyDeleteDon't people realize buffet=more food for the guests? We did a buffet, too and it was awesome! Ignore her...she's just jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see your dress!!! Have fun sleeping in, and be a little sad for us Europeans, please...
ReplyDeleteI think guests actually prefer buffet style weddings because you can choose what you want, you can go back, and if you know anything about weddings you know it's more expensive because you actually have to get more food because you don't know how much people will eat of each thing. I'm sure it will be a beautiful wedding. Don't let people get you down!
ReplyDeleteYou look SO cute in your shirt - I love it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE the sneak peak - gorgeous!
I'm sorry about your car :(
Serving a buffet is not low class, but that comment sure was!
Sorry about your car! :(
ReplyDeleteI can't see the sneak peek?? I'll try refreshing!
I've been ordering my PSL all week.. Sbux hasn't added it back to their menu yet but they do have the syrup in stock.. I was told it would appear on the menu again on Monday.
I'm sorry about your car! I know how it is...you're so stressed about the wedding and then there is one more thing to worry about. On a postive note, I think I saw on Twitter that the pumpkin spice lattes are starting on Sept 6. Don't hold me to it though! And lastly, I have been to tons of weddings with amazing buffets!!!
ReplyDelete1. Your photo looks lovely - I can already tell your dress is fabulous! Can't wait to see pictures of the whole thing.
ReplyDelete2. A friend of mine worked as a barista in college and she told me you can order the pumpkin spice latte anytime even when it isn't on the menu. I've never tried it so I don't know for sure that this is a fact.
3. I'm sorry about your car - we all have days like this sometimes. I hope it all gets better. Despite all the stress - you'll be married so soon!
4. We're serving our dinner buffet style as well. We have a wonderful, extremely highly recommended wedding planner who I know would never allow us to make a decision she didn't think was "classy." Its her professional opinion (and my opinion as well) that buffets are especially fun for younger couples because they better allow guest to mingle and catch up with one another and are more conducive to fun, energetic crowds. I recently went to a wedding with a sit down dinner and the meal lasted three and a half HOURS. We'd come in from out of town and didn't even get to see the cake being cut. Obviously this commenter is either a.jealous because they're not getting married or b. bitter because someone made an unkind remark about their own wedding. Anyone who would write such a nasty comment is obviously the one lacking class.
xoxo
My family and friends are "low class" too...I don't think I've EVER been to a wedding with a plated meal! And...September 6 is the day you can pull up and order your fall drink!
ReplyDeleteAw, sorry last night was a bummer! :/ At least you can depend on your soon-to-be-hubby for jumper cables! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd wench...haha...not a hootchie! Loved that line. I use that word on a daily basis but am never sure how to spell it..hoochie, hoochi, hoochy?! lol
Hope you have an awesome 3-day weekend!!!
Oh my gosh!! I can't wait to see the photos!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy wedding is in a mere 43 days, and I am also serving food buffet-style... so we can be "low class" together!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a beautiful person, inside and out, and people are just being hateful and trying to burst your happy and blessed bubble. Your wedding is going to be absolutely gorgeous and she's probably just jealous that she didn't get an invite ;)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Okay... that's a tease! I love that photo! :) I can't wait to see some more!
ReplyDeleteGuess what... I'm serving my food buffet style at my wedding too so that person that called it low class can kiss our butts. The nerve! In the end, we're down home girls with class that's the bottom line. I hope your car is OK and just needs a new battery. The same thing happened to me WHILE ON VACATION this past July! I am so happy my dad was there vacationing with us so we had someone to tote us to the Auto Zone to get a new one! I am dying for pumpkin spice! I can't wait to see your bridal photos!! So exciting and I love your bracelet! A Southern girl without pearls might as well be naked ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your Hogs shirt too! I need to get some new Crimson gear!
Saw pumpkin spice on the menu at my Starbucks today - rumors are true! It's BACK!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sneak peak photo of you in your dress. You already look fabulous!!! Sorry that woman made such a rude comment. I honestly prefer buffets at weddings. I'm not much of a meat eater, so the buffet lets me stock up on other foods. By the way, you are absolutely adorable hun! Love the photo of you in your football tee!
