Let's Be {Pen} Pals!

I really, truly tried to come up with a more clever title, but lord help me, I count not.

Howevs, due to my unoriginality, you can probably tell what this post is going to entail, no? So yesterday, I tweeted that I missed the exchange of a handwritten letter. You know, taking time to pick up a pen and put words on paper with thought and good intentions. And then there's the part about stamping it and mailing it and waiting for your own letter to come in the mail...it's fun, I swear it is.

Apparently y'all agree. I got no less than 57 tweets back saying, "I want a pen pal, too!", "You should do a pen pal match-up on your blog!", "I love buying stationary-sign me up!" and "I have a third nipple!"

j/k on that last one.

Making sure y'all are awake.

But I have gotten some pretty weird tweets from peeps before.

So here's what I'm thinking...

IF and only IF you are interested in getting a pen pal, here's what you need to do:

Send me (Leslie) an email at askblondeambition{at}gmail{dot}com and include the following:

-Your name...duh.
-Your age
-Your hobbies and interests, (example: shopping, horseback riding, collecting antiques, robbing convenience stores, etc.)
-Do you have kids?
-Are you married?

I'll attempt to match every fabulous one of you's (I'm Joe Pesci again today) with someone who shares your interests, age range and season of life. It will be up to the two of you to exchange addresses and figure out how many letters you want to send each month. I'll just get the ball rolling by introducing you via email.

Things to consider before taking the plunge and sending some random person a letter:

-I have NO WAY OF KNOWING if the person I match you with is a complete nut job. So if you receive not only a nice letter, but a stalker out of this thing...I'm sorry. But I'm taking no responsibility for this...so don't sue me.

-Emailing someone doesn't count. If you don't have time to drop a couple of handwritten letters in the mail once a month, please don't sign up. It's a real bummer to write a long-winded letter to a stranger and receive nothing in return. And then it just feels awkward...

-This match-up is for ladies only. Sorry fellas.

-Please do not mail your pen pal explosives, mysterious powders, prescription drugs, confidential documents or nudie pics. Again, I don't want to get somehow sued for this.

-You CAN however send clothed pics. Sometimes it's nice to be able to put a face with a name.

-This is absolutely open to non-bloggers! That's why we're sorting this out by email rather than link-up.


Again, PLEASE don't leave your name & address in the comments field. That's not only dangerous, but stupid. And I don't have time to go back and take comments down. I'm very busy with online shopping and writing witty blog posts.

And yes, I'll match myself up with someone, too! It's kind of exciting, no?
