Random Thursday Chatter

via Pink Wallpaper

I just realized that I hadn't done a random thoughts post yet this week! We can't let that happen, now can we? Here are the random thoughts going through my head this week:

1) I haven't read The Hunger Games, but I saw the trailer for the movie and it looks so good! I'm not usually one for sci-fi movies, but this looks more like a thriller/drama. Have any of you read the books? If so, what did you think?

2) I have recently discovered a new store online called Sosie. Any of you out there familiar with them? I was in search of this dress, which I saw on Pinterest. Unfortch, the Zig Zag Dress is sold out, but I saw SO many other adorable items that I'm over-the-moon about.

Cute, right?

3) The hubs returned safe and sound from NY last night. I had my8 hours of sleep of the week last night. I just sleep better when S is home : )

4) We have recently discovered a den of foxes living near our subdivision. Each night for the past few weeks, we had been hearing hyena-like noises coming from the woods near our house. Well apparently our neighbor was emboldened enough to go in search of the culprit.

He subsequently discovered a den of 15-20 foxes living there. How random, right? They're actually kinda creepy because we've seen them meandering around our yard in the middle of the day before. We thought foxes were nocturnal creatures, which goes to show just how little we know about forest dwelling animals.

5) I may or may not have spent a good twenty minutes looking up the proper plural form of the word 'fox'. (According to Merriam-Webster, it's 'foxes'.)

6) I was doing so, so well at having a Starbucks latte only once a week. This week musta' been a bruiser, because I've been hitting that drive-thru like an alcoholic on a bender.

7) To justify this somewhat costly and completely unnecessary latte-drinking habit, I tell myself that I'm aiding in economic recovery for the U.S.

8) Because my one latte per day is bound to put our country right back on track ; )

Be blessed, lovelies-

  1. I'm definitely not a sci-fi reader, but The Hunger Games series was wonderful! Of all the books I read in 2011, that series was definitely my favorite. :)

  14. You've GOT to read the Hunger Games. I promise you won't be disappointed. I took all three books on a recent trip and had them finished in less than a week. So good!

  15. My sisters were all about the Hunger Games when they first came out and tried to get me to read them. I'm a very sympathetic reader and wasn't sure I could handle the whole 'fighting and killing for food' idea.

I do feel like I'm missing out on something now, but I don't want to just read it because everyone else is!

Glad the hubby is back safe and sound. Have a great week!

  23. Hunger Games is the bomb dot com. <-- yup, I just said that. Seriously, SUPER quick reads. I think I read the first one in two nights or something ridiculous. It's a love story and adventure and also makes you think.. I loved it! Totally read it!

And I totally google random things like foxes, etc. Since I'm in PR/Communications, I often sit here and think "Wait, should I abbreviate that?" and start googling. If work tracks my googles, they'll wonder why I'm in my current job. ;)

  26. My son JUST bought the first Hunger Games book a week ago and he is nearly finished. He LOVES it so much and can't wait to get the other two books. I was told by a friend I should read them and I was poo-pooing the idea but now that my son is going to own them, think I'll give it a read. Saw you on the news as well from Kelly's blog...so awesome! Glad you're getting sleep again (I'm the EXACT same way) and here's to Starbies! I had one Tuesday but since I start my day early Friday, I'm stopping and picking another drinkie poo up on my way in to work! Yay for growing the economy (or at least Starbies anyways! Hah!).

  33. The Hunger Games was amazing! You should definitely see the movie when it comes out. I'd recommend reading at least the first book beforehand if you can. They're really not sci-fi at all, but futuristic dystopia.

  34. You MUST MUST MUST read the Hunger Games Trilogy! Read at least the first one before the movie comes out....I literally could not put any of the 3 down. The sad part? It's....um.....located in the "teen section" of Barnes & Noble. I told the worker that it was for my teenagers and he just looked at me like, "yeah, riiiiiiight Lady!".
