Hey, hey! Well, ladies, it's the last Confessional Friday post I'll ever write as a non-mama. I'm sure that, if anything, motherhood will only make my Confessional posts more interesting ; )
Stay tuned for the final Bumpdate post later this afternoon - it's a good one!
Without any further adieu, let's confess.
.............................
2. I confess that I have packed, re-packed and then re-re-packed our hospital bags so many times that it's starting to become a little abnormal. I'm pretty sure that my Howard Hughes-like behavior is starting to worry my husband, especially when combined with the horrible case of nesting that has set in this week.
The way I see it, at least we'll be coming home from the hospital to a clean house. And we'll have plenty of clean socks, magazines and contact lens solution while we're there.
3. I confess that I have never felt more ginormous in my entire life. Or more unattractive. I am no longer glowing, rather I spend most days sweating like a pig in heat. And my face? It has swollen to Goodyear Blimp-like proportions. My lips are even puffy...what the??
4. I confess that part of my heart is a little sad for Ruby as she loses her position as the golden child. Pretty sure lil mama has no clue what's about to rock her world!
5. I confess that I'm SO ECSTATIC to be on maternity leave during the holidays! I cannot wait to spend time with our babe while listening to Christmas music, finishing last-minute decorating and just soak up the newness of being a mom during the coming months.
.............................
Finally, has anyone read any good books lately? I need a recommendation for a couple good reads for the hospital.
Your turn, ladies!
Good luck in the coming days! I just finished Wild by Cheryl Strayed and it was good!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking about you as you and the hubby prepare to welcome baby Caroline! It is definitely wonderful that she is arriving just in time to share the holiday season with you both:)
ReplyDeleteAs far as good books go, have you read anything by Emily Giffin? Her newest book - Where We Belong - is really good. Any of her books would be good reads though. They're easy to read and uplifting (except Heart of the Matter - don't read that one!)
Emily Giffin is GREAT! So is Karen White, all of the books - so good.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you and your sweet family welcoming your little miss soon!! :)
ReplyDeleteLeslie,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! Good for you for getting some pampering in before little Caroline gets here! I am making a mental note to do the same when my hubby and I start our family one day. Sending lots of prayers and well wishes your way from Ohio as your sweet baby enters this world. For books, I would recommend Gone Girl, Dark Places, Shark Objects (Gillian Flynn books) - making my way through the 3rd one now and they're all so good (little crazy, but good!) Happy Friday!
Congratulations on being so close! If you haven't read the Emily Griffin books, they are great reads! Something Borrowed and Something Blue were both fun. Thanks for hosting the link-up! I have loved participating :)

Good luck in the next days. It is so fun and exciting!! I had a c-section and it wasn't bad. In fact, the first two days were hard and after that it was fine. Just remember to move around, laying around made it hurt more from being stiff.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of books do you like to read? I read constantly, so I've got lots of recommendations! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the coming days! I love reading your blog and I'll be praying for you and your babe :)
ReplyDeleteLove from California!
Jackie
Congrats and enjoy it all!
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding time to read in the hospital though! HA!
Good Luck!! Can't wait to see pictures of your little doll!! Also check out Beth Albright ~ Sassy Belles series, super cute easy chick lit read!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you! I'm sure you look great though!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how adorably naive you are.......a book for the hospital?? Oh, sweet new soon-to-be-mama, you have no idea! Books are a thing of the past (unless you count Goodnight Moon!)
ReplyDeleteWishing you so much happiness and joy!!
I confess that your joy and optimism throughout your pregnancy makes me excited to one day have a baby someday. So many people just complain about their pregnancies (not that it's a complicated process), but you have turned the ups and downs of pregnancy into a joyous and often humorous experience and it has been such a joy to read. Thinking of you today. Excited for you to finally meet little Miss Caroline! Thanks for your positive posts :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Boise, your optimism is inspiring to me. You have had an immense challenge in this pregnancy with your "all-day" sickness, yet you never seem to complain.
ReplyDeleteI recently read The Book Thief, and loved it, but can't say I'd recommend it for right after delivery. Something about being postpartum makes most women unusually emotional and it's best to read something light-hearted.
I completely agree with the grooming! I insisted that we not leave the house until my hair was hot rolled and I had on a full face of makeup, even though my water had broken!
Congratulations in advance on your sweet baby girl.
Congrats on your new arrival! But I have to agree with Erin...I'm a labor and delivery nurse and between visitors, soaking up time with hubby and Caroline, breast feeding, eating and hopefully SLEEPING 😊, you will I'm sure not have any extra time for a book!!
ReplyDeleteLooking back, it seems silly , but after my first child was born I cried before leaving the hospital because I was so scared the dogs wouldn't adjust to the baby ! We al did fine :) Good luck, Monday !!!
ReplyDeleteEagerly awaiting the first blog post featuring Miss C! I had maternity leave over the holidays with my second daughter, and it was so wonderful. For all the reasons you mentioned, it is just heavenly!
