It's Friday (!!) (All day, I'm told.)
Now, if that isn't something to celebrate by joining in a delightful link-up, then I don't know what is.
1. I confess that the beginning of college football season, (or just football season, in general), has me aching to make chili. The only thing holding me back? Oh, ya know, the temperature outside, which is currently displaying a crisp and cool 97 degrees. FOR THE LOVE, Y'ALL.
Will cooler temps get here? Will we ever get to wear scarves? Will I be able to sit outside on our patio without my rear end and thighs sticking to the seat because of the 1,000% humidity? These are questions that deserve answers.
2. I confess that the weather has not stopped me from ordering sweaters and cute pants. The hellish temperatures may be able to stall my chili-making ways, but I can still shop online.
Premium Knitted Longline Overcoat. Or, as I like to call it, 'what I'll be wearing every other day'. |
Need these, you do. (I do, too.) So, I bought 'em Wednesday night. (Not a maternity pant, but the BeBand will fix that problem handily.) |
Boucle Sweater. Don't get too excited; it's maternity.
3. I confess that I went to the grocery store with the intention of buying healthy food yesterday and came out with lots of it. Except for the family size box of Apple Jacks. Because, apparently I'm five. (If you would like to join me for some Smurfs and Flinstones on Saturday morning, I'll share my cereal. Then, maybe my mom will take us to the skating rink!)
4. I confess that my child ate a piece of dog food. Yes, friends, it was bound to happen. Ruby's bowl was on the floor last week and Caroline was crawling around like a mad woman. I always try to pick it up first thing before she gets down on the floor in the mornings, but I was dealing with crazy amounts of work emails and trying to participate in a conference call. Lo' and behold, I turned around to see her pop a piece in her mouth like it was a freaking M&M.
I gagged. And screamed. And wiped her mouth out. And may or may not have called our pediatrician and spoke with his nurse who, quite literally, laughed over the phone at me. Her words? "Welcome to the club, Mom."

An InLinkz Link-up
First off, I'm so excited to be posting with you on a Friday! I've missed this link up. It's always been a favorite of mine! Second, my Rebs won last night, so I'm a happy girl this Friday morning...SO READY FOR FALL though. Football seasons just needs crisp, cool weather. Sweating my rear off doesn't make me a happy camper. When my brother was little, he drank water out of the dog's bowl. I think every child does it, and I'm sure every mom freaks out. Just gave her a little extra protein for the day :) Happy Friday, friend!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute pants! We love us some college football + chili as well! Thanks for hosting~!
ReplyDeleteAll three of my girls have eaten dog food on more than one occassion. They also eat crumbs off the floor, and I just tell them thank you for helping me clean. I wish I were kidding.
ReplyDeleteHahah. When taught first grade, I had a child who ate off the floor all the time. I kept telling him to stop and he said "my mom let's me!" I had no clue what to say after that :P
DeleteElaine, this is why I love you! Between Caroline and the dog, we should have pretty clean floors from now on! ; )
DeleteHAHA oh my goodness! Yesterday I went to the grocery store to pick up all the yummy fruits and veg, etc. I was so tired from work and so overwhelmed at the thought a full food shop, I ended up walking out with a big ol' box of Lucky Charms and a bouquet of flowers for the kitchen instead. In some realm of my imagination I'm still considering that shopping trip a success... somehow...
ReplyDeleteHooray for amazing breakfast cereal and Saturday cartoons!
Jenna @ maybe lately
I don't THINK my daughter has ever eaten a piece of dog food. Although, it totally wouldn't surprise me if she has. However, she has devoured a large chunk of a 3 day old Starbucks cake pop that was hidden in the car seat. Pick your battles, right? :)
ReplyDeleteThis week I was at the grocery store and I happened to walk past a package of Pizza flavored Gold Fish. I have not had them in at least a decade and they totally went home with me!
ReplyDeleteoh yess!!!!! My son ate a handful of science diet dog food!!! Not once but on 2 different occasions!! he is 10 now and doesn't crawl on all 4s (at least not all the time ;) and doesn't bark, so she should be good to go!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's been in the 90's in SC too! I'm so ready for cooler weather, but I've still been eating tons of chili and buying sweater after sweater. Apparently my uncle used to eat dog biscuits. Like, he ate one, liked it, and kept eating more. My Nana freaked out. Kids do really weird things sometimes.

I am laughing out loud about the dog food! It was bound to happen eventually but I'm sure I'll be the same way when Em gets into it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the HOT weekend- we're in the 110's in PHX still... shoot me.
xx
Loving the camo pants! Definitely thinking of adding some to my fall wardrobe. And yes, every year I, too, wonder if cooler temps will ever arrive or if they are just a figment of my imagination! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteLoving the camo pants..Yes I have been stocking up on my sweaters and scarves already. With all the college football gear, fall and christmas decor popping up in the stores you can't help but imagine cooler fall weather especially eith this Alabama heat.
ReplyDeleteI'm adding to my sweater collection and then pumping the air conditioning all the way down so I have an excuse to wear them. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
ReplyDeleteI love the camo pants. Now, my question for you and your readers. I bought some last year - I'm 51 years old. Am I reaching here? I don't think I look bad and my husband loves them!!
ReplyDeleteI want all the sweaters all of them. Sorry I am supwe behind
ReplyDeleteI am super behind on my blog reading but 97 degrees where do you live??
ReplyDeleteArkansas and MY LORD was it hot at the end of August. Let's just say I'm relieved the cooler temps are here!
